Sway Concepts is a passion project 30 years in the making. Growing up in the middle of Texas, there were two things that I was passionate about. Spending time outside and doing art. Both activities were heavily encouraged by my mother. Mostly to keep me occupied. Shortly after college, I moved to Hawaii, where my love for the outdoors and art would collide. I spent all my free time in nature and in the amazing Hawaiian waters. The new world around me was my biggest inspiration. I was amazed by all the amazing, strange creatures I encountered while swimming and diving off the shore of Oahu. Although I currently live outside Chicago, my passion for the ocean is stronger than ever. I spend much of my day in my home studio doing exactly what I did as a kid back in Texas. Having fun creating.
Each ring holder is a beautifully crafted artwork that blends into any jewelry style. Every piece is sculpted and glazed by hand. Made from mid-fire stoneware clay, it features a 2-3 underglaze colors and a clear top glaze, all fired at 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit. It takes about a week to create each piece from the sculpt to the final clear glaze firing.
